Gentex Corporation - Zeeland, Michigan
The Bouma Corporation was awarded the contract for the interior finish of the new world headquarters for Gentex Corporation. The project scope included millwork, ceramic, interior and exterior metal stud framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings, finish work, and flooring.
The main entrance adjacent to the existing building draws attention right away with the custom millwork reception desk. This showpiece is built on a radius with cherry/marble top and cherry lattice ceiling suspended in a floating drywall bulkhead to match. Part of the unique design called for a 450’ long by 20’ wide skylight. Bouma raised and mounted over 45 timber trusses set 10’ apart over an open atrium area.
Over 16,000 square yards of carpet were installed along with some distinctive bamboo, rubber, and cork flooring throughout the project. The 800,000 square feet of drywall were installed with special consideration of existing floors to avoid marring. Equipment was fitted with a protective cover to avoid nicks and gouges.
Bouma accomplished over 45,000 man hours for this project with no lost time.
