HOSPITALITY EXPERIENCE

JW Marriott - Grand Rapids, Michigan

The first JW Marriott in the Midwest, this new five-star, 24-story, 340-room hotel is full of class, complete with a 1,200-seat ballroom, massive kitchen, pool, fitness suite, hot tub, and two steam rooms. With large windows in every suite, the beautiful views of Grand Rapids are abundant.

The Bouma Corporation performed the following: spray fireproofing, exterior insulated finish system (eifs), interior and exterior metal stud framing, rough carpentry, fiber reinforced panel (frp), wall protection, drywall, insulation, firestopping, lead shielding, caulking, acoustical ceilings, carpet, resinous flooring, resilient flooring, bamboo flooring, concrete sealing, ceramic tile, stone tile, and stone countertops.

The main challenge of this project was keeping to schedule. Framing started on July 31, 2006 and the owner moved in on August 1, 2007. 17 miles of steel studs and 1.5 million square feet of drywall were installed from November 2006 through May 2007!
