“I started my career at Bouma with the intention of it being a temporary fill-in. That was over 26 years ago! I cannot say enough to show how much I appreciate the opportunity that Bouma has provided my family and me. It is such a great feeling and privilege to be working side by side with so many other individuals that strive to do well not only for the great company we work for, but also for those we provide our professional services to.”
As Project Manager, Mike handles an assortment of projects from hard bid to negotiated owners’ coordinated projects. At the start of his now 26-year career at Bouma Corporation, Mike served as an apprentice in the field, quickly moved to journeyman, and started running retail renovation projects and new store interior build-outs in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. From there, Mike transferred from the field into the office in 1994 as an Assistant Project Manager and rapidly moved into the Project Manager position in 1995. Currently, Mike is working in the Traverse City office, where he has been since 2003. Mike is responsible for several accounts and has coordinated hundreds of renovation and re-model projects for larger retail customers such as SpartanNash, Meijer, and Target. These projects were completed while the retailers remained open for business and have been coordinated safely through each project.
Outside of work, Mike coached baseball for several years, and has since resigned to being a spectator, watching his sons and daughter play on travel teams. He and his wife, Liz, follow their children’s baseball and softball games both in and out of state. Mike also enjoys hunting, fishing, and generally spending time in the outdoors.
